As a professional automotive technician who specializes in European vehicles, I have replaced hundreds of these commonly failed gaskets. I am a firm believer in genuine parts but I have used a few aftermarket gaskets with mixed results but I was pleasantly surprised with this Link-Lock item.
I recently needed to fix some oil leaks on my personal BMW 535i and thought I’d give this gasket a try so I would be the guinea pig instead of a client. Genuine gaskets have been hard to acquire since covid so I’ve been looking for a high quality alternative, and I think I found it.
Once the gasket arrived I was very pleased to see the packaging. I feel that presentation says a bit about quality of a product. The thick plastic bag with the brand logo reminds me of a certain OEM brand from germany. The gasket is also packaged flat so it never deforms unlike some cheaper options I’ve seen before that ball the gasket up and cram it in a small baggie. The gasket is perfectly shaped with the same design as genuine. The material feels excellent and not cheap.
